Tour Description

Andahuaylilas has two tourist attractions that are worth visiting. The first attraction is the main square with its Pisonay trees, the second attraction is the most outstanding attraction in this town; the Catholic church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas. Considered as the Sistine chapel of Cusco, built in colonial times in the 17th century. The interior of the church is decorated with wall paintings, baroque altars of carved wood and houses canvases from the famous Cuzco School, which was developed in Hispanic presence.

The archaeological site of Pikillaqta is characterized by its impressive scale of expansionist movement. Wari represents characteristics of more than a thousand buildings between squares, colcas (food warehouses), courts or houses, temples and long and narrow streets with buildings that were up to 4 stories high. The place is surrounded by old villages located in front of the entire plain and the Wakarpay lagoon.

Tipón was the place where water was worshiped by the Incas, one of the four elements which were treated with great care and worship. The temple maintains an impressive agricultural area that contains 12 terraces on which locals currently are cultivating a wide variation of crops. The walls of the temple are built with finely carved stones.
