In the morning you will leave by bus to the town of Cachora. From here one, you will begin to hike to Chiquisca. The first day’s hike you will be only descending. In Chiquisca you will spend the night.
On day 2 you will get up early for breakfast and continue the walk towards Rosalina Beach, where you will have lunch. After lunch you will walk until reaching Sunchupata, here you will have our dinner and camp.
On day 3 you will get up very early in the morning in order to appreciate the sunrise in Choquequirao. When you arrive at Choquequirao you will have a guided tour around the most important places of the archaeological site. After a considerable time spend in Choquequirao, you will start to walk back to Chiquisca, where you will camp.
After a good night of rest and a delicious and nutritious breakfast in Chiquisca, you will continue the trek returning to Cusco. You will walk along the same path until reaching the Capuliyoc and Cachora pass, which is a much smoother stretch. On the way you will see the exotic flora and fauna, the imposing snowfalls and the impressive canyon of Apurimac.
Choquequirao is considered one of the last Inca resistance bastions of 1536, located in the Vilcabamba Valley, it was a cultural and religious center. This citadel was allegedly used as a control center to ensure access to the areas of Vilcabamba, which connected the jungle with other important centers such as Pisaq and Machu Picchu. During the trek you will appreciate the scenic beauty of the place surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife.
